Just like most everything else in Windows 7, it makes sense, unlike the clunky and confusing Vista.

The Devices and Printers window sorts out your stuff and assigns pretty icons to everything in an easy to see fashion. “Add a printer” is one of the common tasks at the top, so that’s where I’ll start.

Just like previous Windows releases, it will search for printers and attempt to locate the correct driver for it. In this case, it located my TCP/IP printer, a Brother 2070N. The Driver selection window is basically unchanged from previous releases as well, so I didn’t even take a screenshot of it.

That’s it! It added an icon that looks nothing like my printer at all, but it automatically selected it as the default printer. One change that they have made is to the contextual menu. If I right click on the printer, there’s an option for “See what’s printing.” This was “Print queue” in previous releases. They changed the wording to be a little more user friendly.
