Updated Facebook iPhone app, but no iPad version.

June 19th, 2010 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Technology

Updated Facebook app for the iPhone is out, but no iPad version yet. That’s disappointing. I’ve had glitches every time I updated the Facebook app, so here’s what I’ve been doing:

* Delete existing Facebook app
* Power phone off and then back on again
* Install updated Facebook app from the App Store
* Enjoy!

The past few times I’ve left the phone on and just updated the app, I’ve run into some quirks. This has been the safest way so far. It might not occur in iOS 4, so we will see.

Yet another Facebook update…..

January 14th, 2010 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Technology

Hot on the heels of Facebook 3.1.1 for iPhone comes Facebook 3.1.2.

The release note say:

  • Fixes some crashes
  • Fix a bug causing incorrect matches in address book sync
  • Fix a bug causing incorrect matches for contacts with the same name

Check the App Store for updates. I installed it earlier today and haven’t had any issues with it so far. I do not have the Contact sync feature enabled because I found it to be more annoying than anything. The Blackberry application had the same feature and it usually made a mess of my address book. People also change their profile photos rather often and I’d rather be able to set my own contact photos.

Anyway, give it a try and if you notice any issues, let us know in the comments.

What do the Facebook posts with just a color mean?

January 8th, 2010 by stuffaboutlife | 1 Comment | Filed in Life

It’s women posting their bra color to show awareness for breast cancer research. According to a Mashable article, they’re currently not really sure where it got started.

So if you’re on Facebook and see that people are just posting about a color, this is probably why.

Facebook & Twitter still suffering from DDoS attacks.

August 8th, 2009 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Technology

“The distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks that knocked out Twitter for hours and affected other sites like Facebook, Google’s Blogger, and LiveJournal on Thursday continued all day Friday and may persist throughout the weekend.”

PCWorld reports.

This is too bad. There are reports that the reasons behind it are politically motivated too. The PCWorld article tells a little more about it.

So, Facebook and Twitter and apparently LiveJournal are acting kind of strange and experiencing intermittent failures. Google owned Blogger seems to be ok.

Twitter & Facebook down?

August 6th, 2009 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Technology

Reports are that Twitter and Facebook have been suffering a DDoS attack, causing both sites to fail intermittently.

Twitter seems to be back up, but Facebook is still spewing out errors on occasion.

No, the entire internet is not down. It’s just a few well known websites experiencing this problem.
