Sopapia Cheesecake… I think…

July 20th, 2009 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Food

This was a recipe submission, but there was no title. Sopapia Cheesecake is what I think it’s supposed to be:

You will need: 9X13 inch pan
2 Packages of cream cheese (softened)
2 packages of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1 Stick of butter
2 cups of sugar (divided 1 1/2 3/4)
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla

Preheat Oven 350 degrees

Unroll 1 package of rolls flatten in the bottom of the pan
In a mixing bowl, Beat cream cheese and 1 1/2 cup of sugar and vanilla until smooth, spread over crescent dough.
Unroll 2nd crescent dough and lay on cream cheese mixture.
Melt butter and pour over top of crescent dough.
Mix 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and the 3/4 cups sugar and sprinkle all over, then bake for 35 mins!!

Ham & Cheese frittata

July 9th, 2009 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Food

Ham & Cheese Frittata. (I have no idea what a frittata is, my wife was making this one)

The ingredient list is pretty simple. Prep time was about 15 minutes.

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • Few shakes of salt & pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
  • Several slices of ham, chopped up into pieces
  • 1 cup broccoli bits

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Saute broccoli first. Beat milk, eggs, butter, and the salt & pepper in a bowl. Pour into a olive oil coated pie dish. Scatter the ham and broccoli bits all over the top. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of everything.

Place the dish in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a fork inserted comes out clean.

Here’s the finished dish!

Now that looks tasty! :D

From another angle. It tastes pretty good and the broccoli is a nice addition. We’ll definitely be making this one again!

Best Burger in Fort Worth, TX?

July 9th, 2009 by stuffaboutlife | Comments Off | Filed in Food

DFW.com has been running a contest to find out who has the best burger in Fort Worth, TX. Other areas of the metroplex are included, but generally they’re too far to drive, so I’m not too concerned with them.

Kincades was a local favorite, but hasn’t grabbed too many great Yelp reviews. I’ve only been to that Southlake location, and I was happy with it but thought the burger was actually a little too small. Maybe I was just hungry.

Texas Burger Guy has some good reviews. I’ll have to try out some of those places. (Compliments to him for the delicious domain name!)

The critically acclaimed Twisted Root Burger Company has opened a location in nearby Roanoke, TX. That one is on the must-try list. Oddly enough, I didn’t see them at all on the DFW.com contest.

But, you still can’t go wrong with burgers made at home.
