Mozilla’s Firefox 3.6 was released on Thursday, bringing many improvements to the already excellent browser.
Firefox 3.6 offers a 20 percent speed improvement over Firefox 3.5,
* HTML5 support.
* Faster launch times,
* Improved JavaScript performance,
* Web Open Font Format support,
* The ability to auto-update plugins,
* Improved support for “Personas” (themes)
* …and more!
Firefox 3.6 is free and available for download at Mozilla’s Firefox Web site.
I downloaded it last night and have been happy so far. No stability problems. The plugin updater is nice, but all it really does is send you to the plugin vendor’s site where you have to download and install the plugin yourself. There’s not really much of an “auto-update” feature, but it’s still nice to have. It also failed to detect the version of a popular Quicktime plugin for Macs called Flip4Mac. But aside from that, it seems like a worthy update.
And again, it’s free!
